How Does the LifeGuard Monitoring System Work?
If you are in need of help and have our 24 hour monitoring service:
- Simply press the LifeGuard Monitoring help button that can be worn as a neck pendant,
wristwatch or belt clip attachment.
- Once your help button is pushed, the LifeGuard Monitoring specialists are contacted immediately.
- Within moments, you are connected with a LifeGuard Monitoring Care Specialist at
our 24 hour monitoring center.
- Our Care Specialist will attempt to communicate with you through your LifeGuard care console, which has enhanced speaker and voice equipment built right in.
- Your LifeGuard Monitoring specialist will assess the situation and get you the assistance you require immediately.
If you are in need of help and have our self-monitoring system:
- Simply press the LifeGuard Monitoring help button that can be worn as a neck pendant, wristwatch or belt clip attachment.
- Once your help button is pushed, the LifeGuard Monitoring system starts contacting the phone numbers you programmed into your console immediately: family members, local emergency services, even 911.
- Within moments, you are connected with the first number to pick up. They will hear your pre-recorded message (example: "Edith Young at 2 Maple Lane has had an emergency and needs help. Please press 0 to listen in").
- Once the party on the other line presses 0, this silences the medical alarm siren within your home and activates the high-powered microphone on your console. You can then describe the problem and they can hear you even though you can't hear them (it's a one-way speaker phone).
- The other party will then hang up and place a confirmation call back to you. You will be assured that help is on the way, because you will hear them over your answering machine saying "We received your call for help. I'm on my way. I'll be there in 10 minutes". As noted above, you can program the phone number of anyone you trust to help you in an emergency.
